When Printing please click here first Like most clubs we are constantly building new layouts in order to replace older ones and provide constant activity for members. We have recently decommissioned some of our older layouts and are in the process of designing one, possibly two, new ones. The main one will be 00, end to end and probably between 12ft and 16ft in length. |

| Compton – Compton is an exhibition standard 00 gauge L shaped layout 12ft long plus 4ft 6in fiddle yards at each end completed during 2005. The layout is free-lance and not affiliated to any particular railway; it is designed to give free running for all those locos owned by club members that never get a chance to be used at exhibitions. We do not run to a timetable and do not mind which type of loco is being run as long as they are compatible, i.e. LNER & LMS, GWR & SR etc, and as long as we can have fun and give entertainment to the public. We gave it the name Compton because it is local to Guildford and traditionally we have always named our layouts from local places. We know Compton never had a railway but what is in a name! See picture of the right If you would like more information on Compton for possible inclusion in your own exhibition then please ring our Chairman, Vic Langston on 01483 235387.

Out juniors have just completed an N gauge layout loosely based upon Alton where the Mid Hants Watercress Line shares a station with South West Trains. This picture shows the laying of the first track on the first based board. | |
